While there is no official definition of "wild camping," it typically refers to camping in an undeveloped or remote area without the permission of the landowner. In the New Forest, this is not permitted as all land is privately owned and the National Park Authority does not have the power to allow wild camping.

However, there are still plenty of options for camping in the New Forest if you're traveling in a VW Campervan or Overlander. The park has a number of campsites and other accommodation options available, ranging from traditional campsites with facilities like showers and toilets, to more rustic options like campsites without electricity or running water. These campsites are located throughout the park and offer a variety of amenities to suit different needs and budgets.

If you're planning a trip to the New Forest, it's important to remember to respect the rules and regulations of the park. This includes not wild camping, as well as following the Leave No Trace principles and respecting the rights of other park users. By following these guidelines, we can all help to protect and preserve the natural beauty of the New Forest for future generations to enjoy.
